Inspiring story

The kiss (I)

I believed my students may be getting bored these days, so I thought about an activity that they may do just using their laptop (or any other electronic device) and the internet.

Based on this picture, I asked them to write a story that finished with the sentence ‘Definitely, it had been a good day’.

They had to include different verb tenses (present, past and future), active and passive voice.  It is necessary to use right connectors, too, such as:

As soon as      Finally      To start with     On the other hand     Apart from this       Whether      When     If      After (that)     Before (that)      Firstly        In addition to     Besides     Because of     Due to / due to the fact that     Therefore     Although (Though)     However     Unlike

There was no limit in extension, but it had to be at least 150 words.

The genre could be drama, science, fiction, horror, romance, thriller, mystery, comedy, dystopia…

Here you may find some of the pieces of work produced. Enjoy and inspire others to write.

Description of pictures

Alghough these days have changed a little bit our routines, we have come back to write, learn, listen and read. Today, we are posting some texts written by 3rd ESO students where they describe pictures. Here, people are doing different things, so they have mainly used present continuous. They have also used expressions such as "at the bottom", "on the right" or "in the background".

Writing, writing, writing

One of the most difficulta parts in learning any language is being able to express your own ideas by writing them. With our 4th ESO students we have practised how to write different texts which had to include linking words and a clear structure. They had to choose between different topics, and obviously, one of the most popular was writing about why they like a particular sport.

Another topic which was chosen by lots of students was about personal experiences and the best day in their lives. Finally, the third topic was writing about the pros and cons of reducing speed limits in our roads.

Here we are showing you some writing tasks, done by 3rd ESO students. The aim of the task was using linking words, describing what the people in the picture were doing and the background... They also had to make up some sort of story around the picture. We hope you like the results.
